- (1633-1723)marshal of FranceBorn in Lauzun, Antonin-Nompar de Caumont, count de Lauzun was an ambitious and unscrupulous courtier who at first was a favorite of louis XIV until his impertinences cost him a stay in the bastille. He succeeded in secretly marrying the Grande Mademoiselle, first cousin of the king (1681), after an imprisonment of nine years at Pignerol. Going to England, he took part in England's Glorious Revolution of 1688 and was commissioned to escort the queen, Mary of Mod-ena, and James Edward, prince of Wales, to France. He fought in ireland at the Battle of the Boyne. The duke of Lauzun had for his second wife the sister-in-law of the duke de saint-simon.
